Striking stripes...

I have no clue what made me gravitate towards these broad, multi colored, striking stripes but once the top came home with me, it turned out to be too striking for my taste!!
But then again, 'dollars down the drain' did not appeal to me at all and hence I ultimately gave it a try.
Well, pacified by a dark denim and hidden under a blazer, it does not, after all, look as bad as I previously thought. Oh yes, and it has an exposed zip at the back but since it was 28 degrees and awfully windy, I did not dare to take off the only flimsy protection that I had on, to photograph it! May be some other time,on a brighter and warmer day!

Have a wonderful week end everyone.

Today I'm linking up with  Two Thirty-Five Designs   for her Casual Friday Link-up.

The last leaf...

The trees are all naked now. While they are trying to hold on to  the last leaf  before the bare branches shiver from the freezing cold, I'm trying to hold on to the remains of the fall color.
I was elated to spot this isolated, single, little tree in the park holding high the flame of flame colors and couldn't resist a few clicks in front of it!

While photographing, the hubby said that the green and the blues look all the same in the pictures, and the idea was that indeed. I wanted these analogous colors to blend with each other with a single pop of mustard.

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy   for her What I wore Wednesday.

Lucky legs...

We were blessed with a bright, sunny and a very pleasant week end this time!
I almost thought that my legs would never get a chance to go bare till March of 2013, but lucky me, or should I say, lucky my legs, that they got an opportunity to see some sunshine. It was warm enough to not even wear a jacket, but who knew?
I know I'm repeating myself, but hey, I just can't stop admiring a purple/plum-yellow combo. This skirt stole my heart with a lilac-mustard combo on a very silky beige base and an irresistible retro vibe created by the broad belt and broad pleats. Even though pattern mixing is definitely not my forte and I always go for a subtle mix of prints, this time I was in a mood to step out of the box and opt for a bolder pattern mixing.

Today I'm linking up with  Still Being Molly   for her YOLOmondays link up.

Pumpkin crush...

Pumpkins all around made me dig out this pumpkin colored skirt.
I've always been a sucker for rich, warm, jewel tones, but orange never topped that list.
These days I can see it climb the ladder pretty fast and position itself amongst the first three!!
Oh boy, not so long ago I had a citrus crush (check it out here) and now I think I'm having a pumpkin crush!

This week went by in a blink,or it seemed so  probably because I had my hands full.
And when you work this much, it is completely justified to count Friday in the week end, is it not?
So, assuming the week end starts from tomorrow (wink), have a wonderful week end, my friends!

Back to school days...

Hello lovelies,
First of all, sorry for being so irregular. I'm so caught up in so many other activities, that blogging has taken a back seat! :(( But I promise that it is a temporary phase and I'll soon get back to my usual thrice a week appearance!:)) In the meantime, here is a quick post for you all!

This look reminds me of my school days
Most schools, back in India, have uniforms and ours was very similar to what I'm wearing today, just different colors- a navy blue pleated skirt, white shirt, a tie and a navy blue blazer during the winter months. Other than the knee-high boots and the accessories the feel is pretty much the same!

I purchased this hot pink blazer some time back but was struggling to show it the light of the day all this while! Ultimately, it came out of the closet, still with tags on (luckily the tags are well hidden) as I'm still skeptical about it! I kept everything else neutral, basically black, to reduce the shock of a shocking pink,  which made it even worse! Now I look like I'm ready to hit a Halloween costume party!!
I was inspired by me fellow bloggers who wear a hot pink blazer so effortlessly, but somehow, I think, it doesn't work on me! What do you think?
Honestly, this look and these pictures would never have been published if only I had some other look and pictures ready to be posted!

Tell me, would you wear a hot pink blazer? If so, with what colors?

blazer- H&M    top- OASAP    skirt- Banana Republic    boots- Kenneth Cole

Forest full of fall colors...

As the post title suggests, we went camping this weekend, and obviously had loads of fun.
Even though, originally, it was supposed to be a fall camping, it turned out to be a freezing winter camping!
Who knew that the very first weekend of October will have the mercury dropping down to the 20's?
It was, literally, freezing cold, but as one of my fellow campers said, nothing could stop us from having a little fun! We were out in the woods grilling chicken and roasting ourselves (wink!) in the bonfire till midnight!
But the wound of the winter chill was soon healed by the mesmerizing fall colors that we witnessed in a near by State Park and in and around the camping ground!
Well, I absolutely had to take off my jacket just to photograph this beautiful animal print shirt, with black trim and gold buttons, that I picked up the other day from Forever 21.
The plan was to blend in a forest full of fall colors!

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I Wore Wednesday  and  Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday.

Peacock dance...

Hello Lovelies,
Hope you all had a great week end! We had an amazing fall camping this weekend. Glimpses of what I was wearing are coming soon!

The week end before we visited a State Park here in Iowa and this is what I wore. My hubby thought I was over-dressed for the occasion but hey, who can resist a photo shoot amidst the very beautiful mother nature?
It was a fine fall day and the little chill called for a light denim jacket. This pleated skirt in blue/green helped me blend into the backdrop. Thanks to the pops of yellow that gave me a little panache.
The colors in this outfit- green, purple, blue and yellow reminded me of a peacock and I couldn't resist a little peacock dance! Nope, there is no way that I'll publish those pictures!! Instead, I'll share a picture of the national bird of India, the exquisite and enigmatic, the marvelous and majestic peacock!

Here is a depiction of the basic peacock colors, mainly found in a peacock feather:

Hmmmm, I think I was pretty close, what do you think?

Amidst fall foliage...

It was a fine fall day last Saturday.
Wearing fall colors was intentional but, being amidst fall foliage in fall colors, was purely co-incidental.
After a sumptuous lunch at a Mongolian joint, we just happened to hit the near by park, and boy, I was mesmerized by the beautiful, vibrant colors all around ! This definitely calls for a few clicks, what say?

This is my very first pair of printed pants. Even a year back I was like, "Who wears printed pants other than a clown in the circus?"
As I have mentioned many a times before, blogging has really widened my fashion horizon and I'm all set to experiment with patterned and textured pants this season!
Originally I wanted to buy a pair of floral printed pants but this one really caught my attention and I thought, a more subtle pattern would be the perfect way to start off.

Tell me, are you open to wearing printed, textured or colored pants this season?

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I wore Wednesday and  Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday.

Memoirs of September...

Hello lovelies,
Hope you all had a wonderful week end!

Time for a review of all the looks of September. Time for Memoirs of September.

I would like to thank you all for your feedback and suggestions in my first round-up post, Memoirs of August.

In that post, Lisa of  Expanding  suggested linking each picture to its original post in the blog. Well, I have net yet been able to figure out how to do that and hence decided to opt for a simpler way of numbering each picture and then providing the link of the posts. If you've missed out any or would just like to check it out again, enumerated below is a list of the links:

  1. A simple detail
  2. A beautiful smile
  3. Beauties and bounties
  4. Purple rain
  5. Lady rose
  6. Adieu summer
  7. Bottoms up
  8. Tough love
  9. Trendy in teal

Thanking you                                                                                                          Yours fashionably
                                                                                                                                 Juneli
