Memoirs of August...

I'm being a shameless copy cat today!
And that too copying a concept and not an outfit!
Who am I copying? The beautiful Bessie of  Bravoe Runway.
I've always loved her idea of posting all the looks of a month together at the end of every month.
Well, this is exactly what I'm going to copy from now on wards.
This way, I'll get an opportunity to evaluate the outfits that I've been putting together and derive ideas to  improve it. Moreover, it will save me an outfit post ;))!!

So, here is a compilation of all the looks of August :

Tell me, how do you like this new series of posts and also my August looks?
Any idea for improvement?

Thanking you                                                                                                             Yours fashionably

Feeling Fall...

Seriously, I'm torn between fall and summer!
I can't decide which is better, to hold on to summer or to usher in fall ? (as if  fall is waiting for my permission!)
After giving it much a thought, I decided to let go off the old and embrace the new. There will be a better summer some time soon!
I'm feeling fall already...

To be honest, I'm not yet ready to give up summer but all that fall talk around me has warmed me up to the warm colors. The rich, warm fall colors- burgundy and auburn, berries and plums, scarlet and crimson, burnt orange and mustard  yellow, rich warm browns and coffee- talking of coffee I'm actually delighted at the very thought of a piping hot cup of mocha on a freezing cold winter evening, watching the tiny snowflakes falling all over my balcony and beyond, wrapped up in a warm cozy wool throw, in the arms of my significant other!
Pheww, what fall?
I'm already in winter mode now! Duhhhhh! Can't you hear the jingle bells?

Tell me, are you ready for fall yet?

Today I'm linking up with the beautiful Marion of   Marionberry Style  for her Trend of the Month Challenge- Statement necklaces. Do not forget to check out how other bloggers have styled their statement necklaces.

All things bright and beautiful...

While trying to think about a title for this post, I suddenly remembered a little poem that we used to say as prayer everyday in school:

All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful
The lord god made them all!

It was a part of a long poem and surprisingly, I even remember the other stanzas!
Not that it has anything in common with today's outfit, but just the word 'bright' and may be the word 'beautiful'! :))

Hope you all had a bright and beautiful weekend, we certainly did not! It was a dull, gloomy and rainy week end, with the sun peeping out once in a while, and hence the appearance of the trench coat and some bright colors.

Today I'm linking up with  Still Being Molly  for her YOLOmondays link-up.

Prairie girl...

                                                                         Prairie girl in the city:))

The moment I spotted this dress in store, it reminded me of a Prairie girl!
The sleeves, the embroidery, the tie-up neck detail- everything seemed like what a Prairie girl would wear, with a modern twist.
So here I am, the modern Prairie girl!

But the Gemini in me took over today while selecting  the bag. I was torn between this very chic and very bright neon orange clutch and a more simple and subtle ivory hobo.
I  ultimately decided to take pictures with both and let you be the judge as to which one looks better.

So, tell me, which one do you like- Prairie girl in the city (clutch) or Prairie girl goes shopping (hobo)?

Today I'm linking up with  Two Thirty-Five Designs  for her Casual Friday link-up. Don't forget to check out what other bloggers are wearing!

Forever yours...

Forever 21 is one such store which is always full of surprises. Some of the pieces are really high-end looking but without the high-end price tag. I have seen so many of my blogger friends wearing some really beautiful, expensive looking pieces and when I scroll down to check out the brand, I'm so pleasantly surprised to see that it is from Forever21.
Some very recent examples are Bessie at  Bravoe Runwayherehere, and  here  and Mary Ann at  The Dapper Bunhere and   With Each Passing Day-   here.
The other day, I spotted this top in a Forever21 store which looked very expensive, but, as always, it was just about $15! The material, the cut and the finishing- everything looked like it belonged to some high-end name brand.
I was especially drawn to the sweetheart neckline and the color which is neither red, nor pink, a very pretty mix between berry and wine- a rich jewel tone so appropriate for the Fall.

While we all crave for a Zara and a J.Crew every now and then, or even a Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, and a Manolo Blahnik every once in a while,  it is ultimately stores like Forever 21 and H&M, that keep our constant crave for fashion alive by providing us with the 'oh! so gorgeous' look at 'oh! so affordable' prices!
Forever 21 , if you keep providing us with such amazing stuff, I'll be forever yours!

Tell me, do you like shopping at stores like Forever 21?

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I Wore Wednesday and  The Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday.

Prim and proper in peplum...

I'm excited today to be wearing my first ever peplum top today.

To be honest, I'm not a person who blindly follows or wears trends.
In my teen age days, when I was completely smitten by minis and skin tight tops, my mom used to tell me-  "Fashion keeps changing, dear! It is important to have a style of your own, rather than just be fashionable, and style is when you personalize the fashion trends and make them your own!"
So, once I managed to get over the teen age whims and matured as a person, I've always believed in embracing only those fashion trends which, I feel, look good on me or suit my body type.

Peplum was one such trends which I was never too keen to embrace.
It is not because peplum will not look good on me. In fact, I knew that the volume at the hips would rather flatter my skinny bottom and help create an hour-glass shape. It is only because, the idea of some extra fabric dangling at the waistline never appealed to me. Even though I have admired it so many times on other bloggers, I never thought of giving it a shot myself.
I was, in fact, attracted to this top in store only because it was lace and not because it was peplum, but it was a completely different story once I tried it on! I fell in love with the peplum too (may be because it was not too much fabric, just a little flare at the waist) !!

It is funny how we sometimes have such deep rooted misconceptions and discard many a things without even giving them a single chance! A lesson well learnt, I'd say.
I'm so happy that blogging, once again, helped me shed off one of my inhibitions.
I felt so sophisticated, so elegant and so prim and proper in peplum.

Tell me, have you embraced the peplum trend yet?

Today I'm linking up with  Still Being Molly  for her YOLOmondays link up.

A dash of neon...

I wonder what has happened me? The woman who was bonkers about black and white not so long ago, couldn't stop herself from infusing a dash of neon to this black and white dress today!

It is true, change is inevitable, change is the only thing constant in one's life!

Tell me, how have you changed or evolved in your sense of style and dressing?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Today I'm linking up with  Two Thirty-Five Designs  for her Casual Friday link-up [even though today's look is NOT so casual:))!!]

I want to break free...

Freedom is precious- be it individual, or a country's freedom!
Today, the 15th of August, India celebrates her 65th Independence Day.
I know I'm guilty of not wearing red, blue and white on USA's Independence Day, but hey, I'm not going to repeat that mistake.
Though not quite the right shade of green, not definitely the right shade of orange, neither the right shade of white- but yes, I'm wearing all the colors of the Indian flag today (even though the shirt looks like blue, trust me, it is green, and, if you are still not convinced, I have green dots on the skirt)! Yippppeeee!!

The whole blogging world, and beyond, is going gaga about polka dots these days, and let me tell you, I'm no exception. I was immediately attracted to this pretty polka dot number in store, and to top it off, it had these three adorable scalloped tiers and a broad waist band to create an hour glass shape.

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I Wore Wednesday and  Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday.

Sundress on a cloudy day...

Hello lovelies,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was so much fun with our dear friends and their cutie-pie three year old.

It was a cloudy day, and the dress had big, water color, floral print on an equally cloudy base!
Definitely, I needed to cheer it up with a pop of yellow and pink.
It is one of those very rare sundresses with broad shoulder straps providing modest coverage to the bra straps! 100% cotton and 100% comfy with no zip, buttons or belt.

You must be wondering, sundress on a cloudy day? Well, as I said before, I'm totally scared that summer will be over in no time and my summer dresses and shorts will be lost in the closet without even making a single public appearance! So be prepared for a heavy dose of summer attire in the coming days, even if the weather doesn't co-operate.

Today, I'm linking up with  Still Being Molly  for her YOLOmondays link-up.
