I'm excited today to be wearing my first ever peplum top today.
To be honest, I'm not a person who blindly follows or wears trends.
In my teen age days, when I was completely smitten by minis and skin tight tops, my mom used to tell me- "Fashion keeps changing, dear! It is important to have a style of your own, rather than just be fashionable, and style is when you personalize the fashion trends and make them your own!"
So, once I managed to get over the teen age whims and matured as a person, I've always believed in embracing only those fashion trends which, I feel, look good on me or suit my body type.
Peplum was one such trends which I was never too keen to embrace.
It is not because peplum will not look good on me. In fact, I knew that the volume at the hips would rather flatter my skinny bottom and help create an hour-glass shape. It is only because, the idea of some extra fabric dangling at the waistline never appealed to me. Even though I have admired it so many times on other bloggers, I never thought of giving it a shot myself.
I was, in fact, attracted to this top in store only because it was lace and not because it was peplum, but it was a completely different story once I tried it on! I fell in love with the peplum too (may be because it was not too much fabric, just a little flare at the waist) !!
It is funny how we sometimes have such deep rooted misconceptions and discard many a things without even giving them a single chance! A lesson well learnt, I'd say.
I'm so happy that blogging, once again, helped me shed off one of my inhibitions.
I felt so sophisticated, so elegant and so prim and proper in peplum.
Tell me, have you embraced the peplum trend yet?
Today I'm linking up with Still Being Molly for her YOLOmondays link up.

The top is super cute, Juneli, and looks great on you! It's funny to me because peplums were so popular in the 1940s. I've always loved the look and years ago wondered if these would ever be in style again, haha! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love peplum shirts or dresses!

I'm glad you've decided to give peplum a try, because this top is actually gorgeous! I think I would be like you, more attracted to the lace initially, but now that I see it in you, I have to say that the fit is really amazing and really accentuate your figure beautifully! But I cannot leave the skirt and the heels out of this comment, they are simply fab!
