Make hay while the sun shines...

I did not even realize that Fall is knocking at the door until I saw this in the park the other day!

Its amazing how time flies! Not so long ago, summer arrived with all its sunshine and now, with a blink of an eyelid, fall is almost here.
Boy! I need to break in all my new, unworn shorts and sundresses before it is too late!

I really have to  make hay while the sun shines, or should I say,  wear shorts while the sun shines!!:))

Today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I Wore Wednesday and  Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday and  PS- Bananas  for her Double Dog Dare- fashion link up!

So high so low...

This is my very first attempt to this very happening high-low or asymmetric hemline trend.
Being a girl, who is not so confident about her legs, I've always stayed away from clothes that draw attention to my legs and hence have avoided skirts/dresses with high-low hemlines all this while. But I fell for this chevron striped dress in store and once I tried it on, I quite liked the material and the fit of it and decided to give this very hot and happening trend a shot after all as blogging has taught me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with new trends!
Well, let me tell you, it was not as bad as I thought it to be! The hubby quite liked it, and I received a few appreciative glances too!! I just realized, though I'm a good judge of myself, once in a while, I need a boost from others too!
Duhhh, a few compliments never hurt (wink)!!

Tell me, have you embraced this high-low hemline trend yet?

Also, today I'm linking up with  Still Being Molly  for her YOLOMondays link-up and with  Mom Trends  for Monday Mingle.

A twist in the tale...

OMG, there is a butterfly on the clutch!

I know I'm guilty of not wearing an all-American red, white and blue outfit on the 4th of July.
Hence, I'm trying to compensate it today!
Sorry for being  too late for 4th July 2012 and way too early for 4th July 2013!!
Trust me, I had every intention of sticking to the norm, when putting together this outfit, but then came a twist in the tale!
Somehow, from somewhere, Mr. Yellow pushed his way into it!
I  know, off-late, yellow is being very nagging and making its presence felt in almost every other outfit!
Sorry folks, I guess you have no other option than to ignore this very adamant Mr. Yellow!

Today I'm linking up with  Two Thirty-Five Designs  for her casual Friday link-up!

Have a wonderful, fun-filled week-end, my friends!

P.S- I must admit, Mr. Yellow has been so handsome these days that even the butterfly is attracted to him!

A tale of two prints...

While I consider myself to be a pro when it comes to mixing colors, I'm that much more novice and a nervous wreck when it comes to mixing patterns and prints!
So when the beautiful Marion, of  Marionberry Style  announced this month's  'Trend of the Month Challenge' as pattern mixing, it really came as a gargantuan challenge to me!

'Dear friends, welcome to a tale of two prints!'

LOOK 1:

                                                                           What I Am wearing:
                                                                                                             Look 1:
dress worn as top- Old Navy    skirt- H&M    flats- random store in NYC
bag and bracelets- H&M(gift from a dear friend)    sunnies- Kenneth Cole

At first, none of the printed pieces in my closet seemed to work well together!
It was after many a trials and errors in front of the mirror that I ended up creating two looks with this very versatile, pin-striped, neon green dress worn as top.
For amateurs like myself, I would suggest mixing two smaller prints, like I've done in Look 1(stripes and floral) or a smaller print with a larger print, like I've done in look 2(stripes and dots).

LOOK 2:

                                                                         What I Am Wearing:
                                                                                                          Look 2:
dress worn as top- Old Navy    skirt- The Limited    bag- Aldo   ring- Rue 21
flats and sunnies- Kenneth Cole    bracelets- H&M(gift from a dear friend)

After all that thinking, I still could not decide which combo looked better.
The ball is now in your court.

Tell me, which look you like more, 1 or 2, or if at all you like any of them?

Also, today I'm linking up with  The Pleated Poppy  for her What I Wore Wednesday and  Rolled Up Pretty  for her Whatever Whenever Wednesday.
